Website Migration
-
Q: What exactly does website migration mean and what does it involve?
A: When your current hosting provider can no longer meet the demands of your web site, or when you experience constant network downtime, or if you are forced to wait for hours for the tech support staff to respond back to you, it may be a clever idea to change your hosting provider, i.e. to migrate all the files for your sites together with your databases from your present provider to your future provider. At Black Star Cloud, we understand that this can be hard & time–consuming. That is the reason why we’ll perform all that for you at no cost! Our skilled technical team members will migrate your website content from your current web hosting provider to us. Our technicians have got plenty of experience migrating web sites and can handle anything – from an ordinary WordPress–driven blog or Joomla™ CMS–powered website, to a very complex, custom–built web application.
-
Q: How long will the website migration procedure take?
A: While we can’t give you an exact time frame, because there are a lot of factors, including the size of the web files and databases, the location of the present host’s server, the complexity of your site and the present workload of our Website Migration Department, etc., we’ll try our very best to migrate your website within 48 hours, and in some cases – within 24 hours (if the website content is not very large).
-
Q: My personal privacy is important to me. What details do you require?
A: We’ll require the login details for your current web hosting provider’s Control Panel as well as the web site’s name (domain name).
-
Q: The login details for my hosting account are sensitive. How can I rely on you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an indivisible part of the agreement that we will have with you as a client. We are dedicated to safeguarding the security of the personal data obtained from the clients. To accomplish this, we employ technical safety measures in order to avoid the loss, the misappropriation, the alteration or the unlawful leakage of the information under our control. The security measures include, but are not limited to: physical, digital and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the details that we gather on the World Wide Web. When we request clients to supply financial information (for example, a debit card number), this info is masked using the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption technology.
-
Q: Will my site be unavailable during the transfer?
A: While we migrate your web site, it will be available both in your web hosting account with us and in your account with your previous hosting provider. When the migration is complete, we’ll make sure that everything is working correctly and that the integrity of your data is not affected prior to telling you that the transfer is finished. Then we’ll explain to you how to move the domain to your hosting account with us and how to update your DNS records.
-
Q: Will my old hosting provider need to provide any information/help?
A: While we transfer your content, your web hosting provider will not be aware of the migration at all. We won’t get in touch with them in any way.
-
Q: Does it make any difference what platform my present hosting provider is using?
A: Yep. We support all regular Linux–driven web hosting platforms. We don’t support Windows–based web hosting platforms, because we do not offer Windows hosting solutions ourselves.Additionally, we do not support proprietary site building and management user interfaces like Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square, Mr Site, etc.
