An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a particular Internet site. Every single file which was requested for whatever reason shall be listed, so if you have just one webpage with three embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for each of the six files which were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log normally offers the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s Operating System, Internet browser and IP address. Occasionally you may also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The information which an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a PC and used to prepare reports on the overall performance of a site, besides the web stats which your web hosting server may have generated.

Access Log Manager in Website Hosting

If you order a website hosting from us, you shall be able to determine if access logs must be produced and for which domains or subdomains in your account this must be done. You'll be able to enable this function from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, included with all shared accounts. Each domain you host or subdomain you set up will be listed there and you'll see an On/Off option next to each and every one of them, so you can quickly enable or deactivate the generation of access logs separately for every single site that you have. You may save a log to your computer by clicking on the Download link that you'll see within the same section of the CP. The link shall be available even after you stop the log generation, so you will still have access to the data collected by our system.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our state-of-the-art web hosting platform will generate access logs for any Internet site hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, provided that this function is activated. All domains and subdomains that you have shall be listed in the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, which we supply with all the accounts, so if you'd like our system to start producing logs for each of them, you should simply click on the compact button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You could stop this function anytime by following the same steps. You will find a Download link for each log in the same exact section of the Control Panel, so you can save the content produced by our system in .txt format with just a click. An existing log file could be downloaded even after the function has been deactivated, so you will still be able to view the data which has already been generated.
